Status Report for Orange B Lab - Week of March 15 - March 19

ACCOMPLISHED THIS WEEK:

Team B1:

  • Researched and compiled Familiarization Presentation.
  • Rehearsed Familiarization Presentation.
  • Completed Familiarization Presentation.
  • Began work on the Functionality Report.
Team B2:

  • Researched all components of the Familiarization Presentation.
  • Completed and presented the Familiarization aspect of the project.
  • Developed a more detailed design concept for our mini game.
  • Began research and writing of the Functionality Report/Design Proposal.

Team B3:

  • Researched the information of the Familiarization Presentation.
  • Compiled that research into a Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation.
  • Practiced and performed the presentation.
  • Divided up work for the Functional requirements and design proposal report.
  • Came up with ideas for the mini-games. We will be creating two mini-games which will be part of a larger education program.
  • The first game Will be called "Get in Shape!" which will exercise the memory capacity of the end user. In this game shapes will be displayed on the screen for a short time, then the user will be asked to re-enter the shapes on the screen.
  • The second game will be called `Life of a Waiter`which will simulate a real life job situation in a fun way. In this game the user will play a waiter which takes orders from the customers. Then the player will assume the role of the chef which has to make the food according to the orders.

Team B5:

  • Conducted research for Familiarization Presentation.
  • Compiled different parts of the presentation.
  • Practiced the presentation before the lab.
  • Made power point slides for the presentation.
  • Brainstormed ideas for possible mini-games.
  • Tried to find alternative game making software.

Team B6:

  • Completed research for the Familiarization Presentation.
  • Finished the Familiarization Presentation and preformed it.

Team B8:

  • Familiarization presentation was presented. We received feedback, and were also given the chance to view other teams`ideas.
  • Mini-game ideas were decided upon, game progress has yet to be accomplished.
  • Minor parts of the Functionality Report and Design Proposal completed.

MONITORING AND CONTROL:

The following Gantt Chart outlines the tasks that have been completed, along with what remains to be accomplished. Completed tasks have been marked with a check mark while the black bars indicate the current progress on uncompleted tasks.

TO BE ACCOMPLISHED NEXT WEEK:

Team B1:

  • Complete Functionality and Design Proposal Report.
  • Complete programming of the platform.

Team B2:

  • Complete, compile, and edit Functionality Report/Design Proposal.
  • Begin work on designing and creating the game.
  • Finalize details of the mini-game.

Team B3:

  • Work on Functional Requirements and Design Proposal Report.
  • Finalise our initial mini-games design plan.
  • Decide on the appearance of the game, such as background.
  • Practice and start making the games using the program `Game Maker`.

Team B5:

  • Make prototype mini-games.
  • Start work on Functional Requirements Report.
  • Make sure there is no duplication between our mini-game and any other team`s mini-game.
  • Go down to Mustard Seed branch for a tour and to observe the clients and end users at work.

Team B6:

  • Write Functional Requirements and Design Proposal Report.
  • Edit this report.
  • Develop final plan for the mini-game.

Team B8:

  • Obtain knowledge on game design program.
  • Obtain or create sprites and backgrounds so every team will have some basis for the mini-games.
  • Get started on the mini-game development.
  • Finish Functionality Report and Design Proposal.
  • Get in touch with other teams to bounce ideas on game development.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Each team is to develop multiple mini-games which will be compiled together on a platform style main game where the end users will go through each level accomplishing tasks. This will also provide mainly positive feedback on the performance of the end user at the end of each level or possible end pf the game.
