Status Report for Rm224/Lab A, Week of March 22nd

ACCOMPLISHED THIS WEEK

Programming

Additional Information: Game Maker 8 has been discovered to have certain glitches. This includes an error window that will appear if the creator attempts to execute a created game. It was discovered if you are experiencing this problem that if you open a premade game, delete everything, and insert your program in here (you are able to save under another name), that this issue is fixed.
  • A prototype has been completed for every section of the game (i.e. math, social-studies, etc.).
  • Created a script that would add to ammo of a certain attack by colliding with runes and tiles which would ask questions for rewards, or take away health with wrong answers.
  • Created a script which would created multiple copies of objects outside of a room, to then be randomly distributed across the room.
  • Created a world map in which the user is able to select and transport to the appropriate area.
  • Created a maze with enemies and answers which you can chase down the right answer in
Graphics

Additional Information: It has been discovered that premade sprites and backgrounds are able to be used as long as credit is given. This means that only specific graphics must be made. This diminishes the work load by a great factor and therefore other tasks will be assigned.
  • Searched and found around 60% of the sprites and backgrounds necessary to the game
  • A list of references has begun to credit the sprites and backgrounds found
  • 70% of all sprites, objects and backgrounds that need to be created for the mingames are complete
  • 50% of all sprites, objects and backgrounds that need to be created for the main game are complete
Research and Design

Additional Information: The initial tasks that were laid out for this group have mostly been completed. Therefore, more tasks must be found. The members of the group will begin to help out the Programming as they are the ones with the greatest workload.
  • Game concepts for each mini game has been finalized
  • Interface of the game have been decided
  • Wrote 10 multiple choice questions on History for the social studies component.
  • 50% of the questions for the Life Sciences and Earth Sciences group have been completed
  • 20% of the questions for the Reading Group have been completed
  • 40% of the questions for the Writing Group have been completed
