Status Report for Rm224/Lab A, Week of March 15th

ACCOMPLISHED THIS WEEK

Programming Group

Additional Information: The programming group is running on schedule. They have already familiarized themselves with most aspects of Game Maker 8 and have created a help network for those requiring aid.
  • Managed to make a sprite global
  • Created a health bar that can take damage
  • Created a way to make words that can be distributed through a maze and significant words when picked up would give points
  • Tutorials started for those who have never touched programming
  • Created equations out of sprites that can drop from the sky
  • Sprite can pick up an object and change
  • Had a meeting to discuss work packages
  • Created a quick 3D movie clip to demonstrate different principles
  • Created a section of a game as part of the conceptualization process
Graphics Group

Additional Information: The Graphics Group has not been able to accomplish much as they are not able to truly start until design concepts have been determined. They will be truly starting their work this Sunday when the required information is emailed out.
  • Familiarized themselves with Photoshop and the Sprite Editor (on Game Maker 8)
  • Familiarized themselves on methods of integrating their designs into the game
  • Created one sprite as part of the conceptualization process
Research and Design

Additional Information: The lab has finished the familiarization process on schedule, it is now the job of this group to integrate this research into the concept of the game.
  • Familiarization of the client, end-users, and the experts have been completed
  • Decided that each table would be in charge of 1 minigame to ensure that quality is kept (enough time is given to create a proper game)
  • Created a concept of one game
  • Researched existing solutions to our problem and found both the strengths and limitation of this
  • Was found that the greatest limitation is that most happen in a classroom situation which people have trouble concentrating in
  • Solution: Computer game
  • Met to discuss ideas for concepts of games
  • Created an email network
  • Research on basic needs of the homeless in matters related to education and literacy
  • Split up the work for the concepts into the following work packages: Reading, Writing, Math, Physical Sciences, Life and Earth Sciences, and Social-Studies
Entire Lab

Additional Information: Lab is ensuring communication is kept in all matters with frequent emails between groups
  • Familiarization Presentations have been completed
  • Volunteers have volunteered to go ont the offered Mustard Seed Tours
  • A list of questions for the Mustard Seed and their guests have been compiled
